The F1 GTR was based largely on the road car, with additional venting and an adjustable wing being among the few modifications made to get the F1 on track. Thanks to the F1's insane capabilities, it was only a matter of time before it was turned into a race car. This was all in an effort to make the ultimate sports car for the street. In addition to the crazy center driving position, the F1 was equipped with many technologies adapted from McLaren's Formula 1 program. It was McLaren's first road-going car, and held the title of fastest production car at the time of its release. The automotive world might be going crazy about the new road-legal 986 horsepower McLaren P1 LM, but let us not forget the car that started it all-the F1.
